Bulk and granular materials simulations
Discrete Element Models for Bulk Material Simulations

Bulk materials composed of very small particles, such as lunar regolith, pose a significant challenge for meso- and macro-scale numerical simulations. Particles with micrometer-scale diameters can result in simulations involving up to billions of discrete elements, leading to extremely high computational costs and inefficient simulation workflows.
By applying a systematic calibration strategy, materials such as lunar regolith can be successfully modeled using the Discrete Element Method (DEM) in processes involving excavation, material handling, and interactions with mechanical equipment
